FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Microsoft Selects CAI Networks' WebMux to Ensure Availability, Reliability, and Scalability of Live Communications Server 2005 WebMux Ensures Peak Performance and Maximum Availability

(Santa Ana, CA, November. 10, 2004) -
Microsoft® Corp. and CAI Networks announced today that they will work together to incorporate CAI's WebMux™ load balancer into Microsoft Office Live Communications Server 2005 Enterprise and Standard Editions.

WebMux helps deliver the security, availability, and scalability upgrades of the improved architecture of Live Communications Server 2005, which uses a "server pool" to support up to 15,000 active users per server for the Standard Edition and up to 100,000 active users for the Enterprise Edition.

"Live Communications Server 2005's advanced, tiered architecture benefits customers by substantially improving reliability, availability and scalability," said Marc Sanders, Senior Product Manager, Real-Time Collaboration at Microsoft. "The WebMux load balancer helps with data center deployment requirements that are critical to our enterprise customers by providing a low cost, high performance load balancing solution."

Live Communications Server 2005 is an upgrade to Microsoft's standards-based enterprise instant messaging platform, which delivers native federation capabilities, instant messaging, and presence integration with security and scalability especially critical to enterprise customers.

WebMux ensures the availability and performance of Live Communications Server by providing reliable traffic management, scalability, and security. These key factors were validated in interoperability tests performed by Microsoft and CAI in the Live Communications Server environment. With WebMux, incoming session traffic is automatically channeled to LCS's server pool so that no server is overloaded.

WebMux maintains high performance by balancing the load between multiple servers, and ensures reliability by redirecting traffic away from any server that should fail. Continuous WebMux operation is guaranteed via automatic failover to a backup WebMux should the primary WebMux fail.

WebMux is a solid state network appliance that provides high performance management and reliability of IP traffic on Ethernet/Fast Ethernet 10/100 and GB Ethernet networks. WebMux comes ready-to-install appliance and is configurable by a browser-based interface, and includes remote-support capability.

WebMux delivers unmatched ease-of-use and reliability with the industry's lowest total cost of ownership and includes a three-year warranty and three year's of email technical support.
